If we have the book you want, but it is checked out, you may place the book on hold. When the book is returned, it will be held for you for 7 days, and you will be notified by mail or email. You can put books on hold using the online catalog, by phone, or by email.
If you're looking for a book or other item and we don't have it, you have a couple of options.
If it's something you think your Library should own, send us an email and suggest it.
Otherwise, we can try to borrow it for you from another library. We call that Interlibrary Loan, and it's a wonderful service.
Click for a copy of our Interlibrary Loan policies. However, here are a few important points.
- There used to be a $2 charge to help pay for the postage. But now, thanks to a grant from the Mississippi Library Commission, this service is FREE.
- The checkout period is usually three weeks.
- Most libraries will not lend a new book - less than a year old.
- Audiovisual items are generally not available.
The easiest way is to come in the library and ask for one. But if you want to know if something is available or if you have other questions, then email our Reference Librarian - or you can always call the Library at 601.445.8862.
