Do computers bug children? Well, they do in your Library. We have our very own computer bugs just for children.
Two computers are in the children's section - just for use by children ages 5 - 12. Children can get their own library card at age five and use these computers. They are also available for children visiting from out of town.
You have to come see these computers - they are so cute! MeMo the Monitor Bug protects the monitors. The keyboards are child sized in vivid primary colors. The mice are brightly colored critters. There are colorful headphones available, so children can listen to the sounds without disturbing other patrons. Children can even bring their own headphones, if they wish.
What’s on these computers? We’ve selected a series of websites that are fun, educational, and appropriate for children, and they can click on any of them. The websites are the same as those on Links for Kids. The computers are set up so that only those sites can be opened.
The children who have used these computers love them! If you don’t have a home computer or internet access, bring your children with you to your Library regularly. They’ll be having so much fun, they won’t even realize they’re learning at the same time. Even if you have computers, bring your children. They’ll be entertained, while you use our adult computers which are close by, or browse the Children’s section for old fashioned books to take home. If your grandchildren are visiting and you’ve run out of things for them to do, bring them to your Library and let them bug our computers.
We also have toy computers for preschool children to play with while their parents are in the Library.
