Free Tax Preparation and E Filing
This service is provided by AARP in the Armstrong Library every Wednesday from February through April from 9 am to 5 pm. Thanks to a grant from Entergy, free refreshments will be available on Wednesdays.

A Computer Just for Taxes
Also thanks to Entergy, the Armstrong Library will have a public computer dedicated to taxes. You may use this computer to file your taxes online and to download and print tax forms. Plus, printing tax forms will only cost 10¢ a page.
Tax Forms
The Mississippi Department of Revenue is no longer mailing tax forms to individuals. However, they have provided paper forms to all public libraries. You can also download forms from their website - and file your taxes online.
You can download federal tax forms, publications, and information from the Internal Revenue Service. You can also file online at no charge. Certain individuals also qualify for free tax software.
Louisiana forms and publication are available at Louisiana State Tax Forms where you can also file taxes online.
Acrobat Reader is required to download forms and is available free from Adobe.
Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
EITC may be available to anyone who earned $49,078 or less. You could be eligible for a special tax credit this year worth up to $5,751 - and not even know it!
People move into and out of EITC eligibility based on changes in their earnings or parental or marital status. Many people will qualify this year for the first time because of economic hardships. You should definitely check to see if you qualify.
Friday, January 27 is EITC Awareness Day, so come by your Library, enjoy some refreshments, and find out if you qualify. Or click below to go to the EITC website.
